If you’re wondering who or what Ponseti is, Google is your friend! Seriously, Ponseti is the name of the pioneering orthopaedic surgeon who devised a non-invasive method of fully rectifying club feet in babies and children. Why am I so interested in this you may ask? Well, my son, William, was born with bilateral talipes equinovarus (two club feet) in September 2008. Thanks to the Ponseti method, his feet have been completely corrected and he needs only overnight bracing to prevent regression until he is four. Thereafter, he’ll have a completely normal life.
I will no doubt blog about club feet and Ponseti from time to time. If you’re a parent, or are about to become a parent, of a child with a club foot, I’d love to hear from you. And if you’re not, I’d love to hear from you anyway.
